Where we work in Douglas

Douglas is a big, wooded town with water on almost every side. We clean in East Douglas village, around the Jenckes Store Museum on Main Street, in the neighborhoods along Whitin Reservoir and Badluck Pond, near Manchaug Pond on the Sutton line and out toward Wallum Lake inside Douglas State Forest, where the town meets Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Lake homes, camps and woodland houses

Around Whitin Reservoir, Badluck Pond and Manchaug Pond, many homes and seasonal camps sit close to the water. Summer means wet swimsuits on the couch, sandy feet across the carpet and kids running in from the dock all day. Sand works into carpet like sandpaper, and damp upholstery that never fully airs out starts to smell musty by Labor Day. A cleaning at the end of the season gets a camp ready to close up fresh or ready for fall weekends.

Away from the lakes, Douglas homes back onto woods and trails. Douglas State Forest covers more than 5,500 acres, including Wallum Lake and a rare Atlantic white cedar swamp, and the people who hike, ride or walk dogs there bring the trail back on their boots. Entry carpet and hallway runners show it first. Our low-moisture method uses less water than soaking methods and tends to dry faster, which helps in lake houses where humidity already runs high.

Plenty of Douglas families have dogs that swim. Wet-dog smell in a sofa or carpet is common, and pet odor treatment starts at an extra $30. Long-set odors may not come out 100%, and we will tell you what we think before you commit.

The Douglas year, from ice to beach sand

Winter on Douglas back roads brings sand and salt into entryways, and ice-fishing gear and snowy boots do not help. Spring thaw turns forest trails and dirt driveways to mud. Summer is the big one for lake homes: sand, sunscreen on fabric, humidity and wet towels on furniture. Early fall, after the season winds down, is the ideal time to clean camp couches, mattresses and carpets before they sit closed up all winter.
